LA ROUX – 21st March 2010

LA ROUX RETURNS FOR MARCH 2010 SHOWS

The Frontier Touring Company is elated to announce that the UK’s hottest electro pop duo, La Roux, are returning to Australia for shows in Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide in March 2010.

One of the stand-out and must-see acts of 2009, La Roux’s last tour saw headline shows sell out in just minutes. Venues were upgraded to meet demand and sold out again just as quickly.

Clearly La Roux need little introduction to Australian audiences, whose love affair with the pair’s highly acclaimed, self-titled debut propelled the album into the upper echelons of the ARIA chart. But that’s hardly surprising for a CD that features radio favourites like ‘Quicksand’, ‘In For The Kill’ and the hip-shaking, toe-tapping ‘Bulletproof’.

A nomination for the UK’s illustrious Mercury Prize this year, and peak positions on hit lists such as the BBC’s Sound of 2009 and The Guardian’s Best New Acts of 2009 resulted in La Roux becoming one of the most talked about and well-respected new bands of the year.

And whilst some bands fail to live up to the hype, La Roux certainly delivers. Their recent live shows down under were received to a rapturous response.

‘A storming performance… Like Beth Ditto before her, Jackson is quickly becoming an icon, celebrated for bucking a trend and looking f**king cool whilst doing it.’ – Beat Magazine, October 2009

‘The fans eat up every moment… In For The KiIl and Bulletproof capped the night off with La Roux proving that despite the hype they certainly have what it takes.’ – Inpress Magazine, October 2009

Promising to return even bigger and better than before, this tour will be a must for 2010. So make sure you don’t miss out, because this time there won’t be any second chances.

TICKETS GO ON SALE 9AM FRIDAY 11 DECEMBER 2009.

PHOENIX – 06th March 2010

PHOENIX
Mon Dieu, c’est
PHOENIX
AUSTRALIAN TOUR MARCH 2010
with special guests Miami Horror
In August of 2009, Phoenix sold out their only three Australian shows so fast that there were just as many tearful ticketless folk outside the venues as there were those inside lucky enough to witness the best damn pop show of their lives.
Now is the time to dry those eyes – France’s finest, Phoenix, will return in March 2010 and spread the love ever wider with shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.
“They’ve got the whole package,” declared undercover.com.au after witnessing the band’s August tour. “A slick, well-executed live show packed with everything a Phoenix fan could want and more.”
After a decade together and with four damn fine albums to their name, including their latest, 2009’s stellar Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, the Parisienne foursome come armed with one of the most delicious set-lists going around – ranging from Wolfgang’s irresistible radio favourites Lisztomania and 1901, to the singalong stomp of Long Distance Call and Napoleon Says, the hip-shakin’ Consolation Prizes, and early fan favourites Run Run Run, Too Young and If I Ever Feel Better.
Singer Thomas Mars, guitarists Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Brancowitz and bassist Deck D’Arcy offer a uniquely French blend of charisma, style, underground electronic soundscapes, infectious melodies, sharp hooks, house beats and retro rock.
Special guests on all East Coast shows will be Miami Horror. Producer Benjiman Plant has made a name for himself with remixes of The Presets, Faker, Pnau and Datarock. Irresistible, electro-indie-pop, Miami Horror’s latest offering is the infectious track Sometimes from the forthcoming album due early 2010. At a recent Melbourne gig, Fasterlouder exclaimed of Miami Horror’s four-piece live ensemble: “…this music is even greater live. Don’t wait to find out about Miami Horror on the back of some dance annual, this is the kind of performance worth seeing live.”
