Spring Ball In The Valley is a fundraiser event for a wonderful cause, supporting the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
Did you know? Around 1600 people are diagnosed with brain cancer in Australia every year. Approximately 1200 people die each year from brain cancer, which is about one every 7 hours. The statistics are shocking.
The inspiration behind the Spring Ball In The Valley came from Rebecca Mae Vella. Her life was turned upside down in an instant on Mother's Day 2016. Her mother was an active, healthy and fit 57 year old and never touched alcohol or smoked a cigarette. On the morning of Mother's Day 2016, Rebecca noticed that half of her mother's face had slightly dropped. When the doctors told Rebecca's family that they had found a "mass on the brain", everyone was in disbelief.
This "mass on the brain" ended being a grade 4 glioblastoma. Life is fragile and it is unpredictable. The fight is real and is currently in cancers' favour. Funding for research is crucial in finding new treatments which is why the Spring Ball In The Valley is created. Rebecca wants to do everything she can to help the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, create weapons that people can use to enable a fair fight with cancer and triumph.
